You know how they say that the best way to get anything done is to ask the busiest person in the room? I believe that person is usually a mother of a young child but in this case, it’s me! Even as I perform my day job as CEO of Hanky Panky, I have become a theater producer!
We have been so busy at Hanky Panky as we celebrated our 40th year in business but 20th Century Blues is so good and timely that I simply could not look away. I’ve never done this before and likely will not do it again, but the play resonates.
I could say this play has special appeal for “women of a certain age” (I hope it will soon be time to stop using this tired phrase!)—most of the cast are—but it addresses multi-generational issues with such intelligence, depth and wit—that I won’t say that!!!
I will say that 20th Century Blues is a play that speaks eloquently to the values shared by our Hanky Panky sisterhood.
